In this guide, we’ll show you how to create a gold pickaxe. What you’ll need:
- Crafting table
- Furnace
- Iron pickaxe
- Two sticks
- Three gold ingots
Step 1 – Gather logs
Collect a few logs by punching out a tree (any kind of tree will do).

Step 2 – Create planks
Using a crafting table, place the logs in any single cell of the grid to create planks in the output box.

Step 3 – Create sticks
Now, place two planks in the center column of the crafting grid, one in each of the bottom and middle cells of your crafting table to create sticks.
(You can look at your numpad, if you have one, and the placement on the crafting grid would correspond to the “2” and “5” keys, which we can refer to as cell 2 and cell 5.)

Step 4 – Mine some gold
0:26 – Using an iron pickaxe, mine three pieces of gold ore. You can generally find gold in caves or mines.

Step 5 – Smelt the gold
0:33 – Place the gold ore in your furnace to smelt it into gold ingots. You can use the logs you gathered as fuel.

Step 6 – Place the sticks
0:55 – Then place two sticks in the center column of the crafting grid, one in each of the bottom and middle cells of your crafting table.
(These would be cells 2 and 5.)

Step 7 – Place the gold ingots
0:61 – Now, place gold ingots in the top-left, middle-center, and top-right cells of the crafting grid.
(These would be cells 7, 8 and 9. )

Step 8 (Optional) – Admire the bling
You have a golden pickaxe. Gold. Pickaxe. As in a pickaxe that’s made of gold, which is a soft metal. You’ve fashioned a tool from a metal that is quite literally less durable than wood.

But dang. We’re really ballin’ now! So, just stare at how pretty that pickaxe is, because with gold practicality has nothing to do with it.
