Chestplates have different durability values depending on the material used to craft them.
Leather tunic | 80 Durability |
Chain chestplate | 240 Durability |
Iron chestplate | 240 Durability |
Golden chestplate | 112 Durability |
Diamond chestplate | 528 Durability |
Netherite chestplate | 592 Durability |
In this guide, we’ll show you how to create a golden chestplate. What you’ll need:
- A Crafting table.
- A Furnace.
- An Iron pickaxe.
- Eight gold ingots.
Step 1 – Mine some gold
0:19 – Using an iron pickaxe, mine eight pieces of gold ore. You can generally find mineral veins in caves or mines.

Step 2 – Smelt the gold ore
0:31 – Place the gold ore in your furnace to smelt it into gold ingots. You can use different fuel sources to power your furnace, we use logs since they’re easy to acquire.

Step 3 – Place the gold ingots
0:46 – Now, place gold ingots in the bottom-left, middle-left, top-left, bottom-middle, center-middle, top-right, middle-right, and bottom-right cells of the crafting grid.
Basically, you place ingots on every cell except the top-middle one.
(You can look at your numpad, if you have one, and the placement on the crafting grid would correspond to the “1”, “4”, “7”, “2”, “5”, “9”, “6”, and “3” keys, which we can refer to as cells 1, 4, 7, 2, 5, 9, 6, and 3.)

Step 4 (Optional) – Wearing a fortune
Talk about looking mint! This golden chestplate gives new meaning to the phrase “looking like a million bucks”. Definitely a fine-looking piece of armor you’ve crafted.

Hopefully, any foes you encounter will be blinded enough by the sheer stylishness of your armor choice that they forget to attack you. One can hope.
